University of Africa Toru-Orua Joins NUGA Ranks as Observer

The University of Africa (UAT) Toru-Orua, Bayelsa State, is set to make history as they participate in the 27th Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) games in Jos, Plateau State, as observers for the first time.

The contingent, led by Dr. Nancy Nnebuihe Nwosu, Chairman of the University Sports and Recreation Committee, will arrive in Jos today, ahead of the games. Dr. Nwosu expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Solomon Tamarabrakemi Ebobrah, and the management team for making UAT a full member of NUGA.

Coach Ada Gwegwe, a key figure in the university's sports development, said the participation marks a significant milestone, stating, "A university without sporting activities is like a man with one leg." The UAT flag will be hosted during the opening ceremony, and students will participate fully in NUGA events come 2026.

The 12-day event, which ends on November 16, 2025, is expected to attract students from across the country. Coach Gwegwe believes this development will boost the university's reputation and attract more students.
