The Nigeria Maritime University okerenkoko (NMU) is celebrating an exceptional performance by its athletes at the Federation International sport universities [FISU] Trials competition 2025, a feat orchestrated under the guidance of the Ag. Director of Sports, Coach Oringo Binapado. The university's swimming team showcased remarkable talent, competing against strong contenders from the University of Ibadan (U.I), Niger Delta University (NDU), Benson Idahosa University (BIU), and Africa University. Their hard work and dedication culminated in an impressive medal haul of 10 gold, 9 silver, and 6 bronze medals. This outstanding achievement has secured their qualification to represent Nigeria in swimming at the prestigious FISU World University Games in Germany.
Adding to this remarkable success, the Nigeria Maritime University also fielded a talented cadet in the taekwondo category at the FISU Trials. This athlete demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, clinching a gold medal in their event. This victory not only adds to the university's medal count but also secures a spot for the NMU cadet to represent Nigeria in taekwondo at the FISU World University Games in Germany alongside the swimming team.
