Ekpoma, Edo State – The management of Ambrose Ali University (AAU) has vehemently denied claims that it owes staff 32 months of salary. The acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Asomwan Adagbonyin, dismissed these allegations as "mischievous" and aimed to "whip up sentiments."

According to Professor Adagbonyin, over 1700 staff members, including academics, senior non-teaching staff, and junior staff, received their August salaries on Tuesday. Additionally, 634 pensioners were also paid. He emphasized that the university has consistently met its salary obligations and has a "Pay Day" policy that ensures payments are made before the 27th of each month.

The Vice Chancellor attributed the recent allegations to a "biometric/staff verification exercise" conducted in 2021. During this process, many staff members were found to have falsified their ages and official records. Those who refused to participate or failed to complete the verification process have had their names removed from the payroll.

Professor Adagbonyin warned that AAU would not be intimidated by such false claims. He urged staff members to cooperate with the university's verification procedures and avoid spreading misinformation.
