The Peoples Democratic Party has declined to signed the peace agreement regarding the upcoming Edo State Governorship election set for September 21.

Former Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar made this announcement on Thursday during the signing ceremony of the peace accord in Benin.

He stated that the PDP expressed its willingness to sign the peace accord only if specific conditions are fulfilled.

The state chairman of the PDP was absent from the venue and could not provide an explanation for the party's decision to decline signing the accord.

On Wednesday, Governor Godwin Obaseki expressed that his party, the PDP, may not agree to the accord. He shared this possibility during his meeting with members of the National Peace Committee.
