The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully apprehended two cattle rustlers and two notorious gunrunners in a series of operations across the state, while also thwarting a kidnapping plot.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, the police arrested Aminu Saleh and Jafar Ibrahim, identified as members of a criminal syndicate involved in stealing cattle from farmers in the Kasuwa Magani area of Kujama.

In a separate operation, ASP Hassan announced on Sunday that officers also intercepted a kidnapping attempt, leading to the arrest of three suspects: Umar Baso, Shehu Filani, and Babangida Abdulkarim. The suspects had reportedly demanded a ransom of N10 million from their intended victim.

Moreover, the police detained two individuals, Dahiru Liman and Sani Abdullahi Makeri, for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to kidnappers operating across Kaduna, Katsina, and Zamfara States. During this operation, a fabricated AK-47 rifle and five rounds of 9mm live ammunition were seized.

The State Commissioner of Police, Audu Ali Dabigi, praised the efforts of the police operatives and urged the public to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station. He also reaffirmed the Command's dedication to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of all residents in Kaduna State.

The statement from the Command highlighted a successful raid on August 22, 2024, in the Kasuwa Magani area, where Saleh and Ibrahim were apprehended. The suspects confessed to their involvement in cattle rustling.

Additionally, on August 24, 2024, operatives arrested Liman and Makeri, who were involved in supplying arms to criminal groups. The police recovered a fabricated AK-47 rifle and live ammunition during the operation.

Commissioner Dabigi commended the officers for their vigilance and reassured citizens of the Command’s unwavering commitment to eradicating crime and protecting

the community.
