Every woman who wants to protect herself from HIV should know what this is.

This is a PrEP ring which is medically called a Dapivirine vaginal ring.

It is a flexible silicon ring that a woman can insert into her vagina to protect her against HIV.

A woman will insert it into her vagina, it stays near the cervix and gives local protection against HIV.

It needs to have been inserted for at least 24 hours before it can start working and studies have shown that its efficacy rate is over 50%.

To provide needed protection, the woman will have to leave it in there for 28 days (even during sex or period).

This can only provide protection against HIV but does not protect against other STIs or prevent pregnancy.
